Franklin High School offers an array of mental health resources and services provided by wellness staff on campus. Unfortunately, awareness about these crucial resources/services needs to be raised. But they are here for students who need them.
Some services the Wellness Center offers include:
Individual counseling
Mentoring
Conflict mediations
Support groups
A safe space for decompression
Stefani Allison, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, has been working at FHS for three years. Allison is one of FHS’s mental health clinicians offering students individual therapy. Although a lot of students can be hesitant to reach out and even unaware of these resources, Allison said, “There are a lot of people here they can talk to… Time helps, but therapy heals.”
Another Mental Health Clinician here at FHS is Pedro Heredia, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has worked at FHS for six years. Heredia offers various services, including individual therapy, resources for families in need, and student and teacher check-ins. Heredia has an open-door policy for all students, and said he tries to make himself as accessible as possible.
“As soon as school starts, I’m here. I’m available” he said.
Allison and Heredia’s services are considered Tier Three services, and a counselor or the Wellness Center must refer students.
If students seek more information regarding these resources offered through the school, they can contact their assigned counselors or the Wellness Center.
FHS students wishing to speak to a mental health professional can find Stefani Allison in room A2-11 here on campus. Pedro Heredia is in room A1-1.
