Franklin High School hosts several student presentations during the school year in the media center or the WiFi Cafe. These presentations cover various topics, from workshops for parents to information about colleges and multiple programs. FHS Guidance Technician Naomi Munóz connects with colleges, local businesses, and other relevant organizations in order to schedule these events in collaboration with the district’s Career and Technical Department.
Recently, representatives from Tesla visited FHS, and during this event, their spokesperson introduced a new manufacturing development program in partnership with Delta College. This presentation featured various pictures and videos from the company. Students will have the opportunity to intern with this program, which includes a semester of classes centered on manufacturing at Delta College.
Once they finish the program, interns will be eligible for job offers at either the factory in Fremont or the mega-factory in Lathrop.
Munóz said these events can attract many participants, but don’t always. She noted that college presentations tend to draw more attention, with around 20 to 80 people signing up, depending on the college.
Upcoming presentations will feature speakers from Burberry and a cosmetology program.
