Franklin High School Girls Softball ended their 2024-2025 season with three wins and 16 losses. Despite that, the players say this softball season wasn’t just about wins or stats; it was about growth, laughter, and creating memories that will stick with every player long after the final game. From the crack of the bat to the chaos of bus rides, the team built something special together.
For many players, the proudest moments came when they stepped up to the plate and delivered. Whether it was getting their hits in, finally connecting with a solid line drive, or even hitting a home run, those personal victories made all the difference.
But the magic of this season didn’t stop at the hard practices. The team’s favorite moments weren’t always on the field—they happened on the bus, in the dugout, and during practices full of inside jokes. “…We were on the bus going home from going against McNair, and we were all in a really good mood, talking, and then we got pizza,” said Zeva Padilla, FHS right fielder.
“We were always goofing around, singing, trolling each other, just being loud and having fun. We weren’t just teammates, we were friends,” said third baser Jaslene Moore.
One of their favorite and most memorable games came against a tough competition; Bear Creek stood out as a highlight of the season. “We only lost by three, but we fought so hard. That game showed how much drive we had,” said senior utility player Lillianna Guzman.
Beyond the field, the real highlight of the season was how the team came together. At the beginning of the year, the players said things felt a little separated, with small groups sticking to themselves. But as the games went on and the laughs got louder, something changed. “We weren’t in our little cliques anymore,” one player said. “We became one team. We started being ourselves around each other, and that made everything better,” said pitcher Zaira Chappell.
It’s safe to say the season was a learning experience–a taste of what being on an uplifting and thrilling team is really like. And to anyone thinking about trying out in the future, the players have a message: “If you don’t make it the first time, try again next year. Don’t give up,” Guzman said, adding, “Softball isn’t as scary or serious as you think; it’s fun. Just go out there and enjoy it.”
This season was more than just a series of games; it was a season of connection, pride, and unforgettable moments. And whether players are returning next year or moving on, they’ll always carry a piece of this team with them.
