At about 12:19 on Thursday, May 29, the last day of finals for the 24-25 school year, fireworks were set off inside the ground floor of the C building and in a downstairs bathroom in the A building, resulting in the school being evacuated and the fire department responding shortly after.

Claudia Cobian (11) said she was in the C building hallway and reported that she and two other students nearly got hit by part of the firework after it went off.
“I saw the flash, ” said Fabio Ibrahim (11) of the explosion in a downstairs boys’ bathroom in the A building.
About ten minutes after the school was evacuated, a fight started in the staff parking lot. Campus police intervened immediately, and the involved students were separated. At least one student was seen being handcuffed by police.
Just after that, students and teachers were instructed to go back to their classrooms, and firefighters remained on campus to help air out the hallway, which was still filled with smoke.
