The winter formal update is here: it’s officially canceled. Franklin High School was set to have its annual winter formal on January 18, but unfortunately, it won’t take place anymore because not enough tickets were sold.
According to student leadership adviser Elizebeth Calderon, only a few tickets were sold for the event. They had aimed to sell about 150 tickets before moving forward with the formal arrangements, but only 50 were sold. Additionally, renting the DeRosa venue at the University of the Pacific for a night cost around $5,000, contributing to the high ticket prices.
Also, according to Calderon, student surveys were sent out and showed that many students preferred attending an event outside school. However, many chose not to purchase tickets because the prices were too high, mainly because it was an off-campus event rather than one held on campus.
Glowfest will replace the previous event scheduled for February 14th from 5:30 to 8:00 pm. The PLUS and ASB classes are organizing this event.
