The vending machine in the Franklin High School B building isn’t functioning and hasn’t been for four years. According to Campus Security Monitor Denny Man, the vending machine broke and was never repaired after FHS shifted to distance learning during the COVID pandemic in 2020.
After that, the FHS administration chose not to renew its contract with the vending machine owners. So the vending machine ultimately remained broken down.
While it was in use, Man said the vending machine broke down frequently because people would shake it and perform other actions that caused it to be defective. On top of that, the vending machine never had regular maintenance since it was way too expensive.

The opening of the student store in the A building caused the vending machine to lose customers. The necessity for the vending machine grew less and less until nobody bothered to pay any attention to it.
As the other vending machines on campus continued to break down, they were being removed because they were too expensive to repair. FHS administrators finally made the decision to remove all the vending machines in late 2019 since they were a ¨waste of space,” Man said. The majority of the machines were removed prior to the pandemic.
Only the B building vending machine was forgotten, and in the chaos of the pandemic shutdown and the return to in-person learning, it is now a forgotten relic left to collect trash and dust.
